Immigrant Women’s Support Service (IWSS) – Cecilia Barassi-Rubio
The Immigrant Women’s Support Service (IWSS) is a specialist domestic violence and sexual assault service providing culturally appropriate support services to women from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB), and their children. IWSS also undertakes community education and engagement activities with CaLD communities; professional development and training activities with government and non-government organisations; resource development and systemic advocacy to raise awareness of issues affecting women from NESB. IWSS is actively engaged in key local regional state-wide and national networks. IWSS is the only service in Qld specifically funded to support women from NESB in relation to violence.
