Forum Outcomes

The Centre’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reference Group has met to review the results of the Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Forum workshops and prepare an Issues Paper that provides recommendations in the following areas of concern:

  • child protection policy and practice;
  • domestic violence shelters in rural and remote areas;
  • innovations in education to prevent Indigenous family violence;
  • Indigenous justice issues; and
  • healing.

Which Way Now

On 4 May 2004 the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research, in conjunction with its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reference Group, convened an Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Forum: "Which Way Now?".  Copies of the keynote addresses by Professor Mick Dodson and Ms Jackie Huggins, as well as some other forum presentations are now available for viewing below.
